Free Electronics Recycling & Paper Shredding Event in Woodstock
Fees Waived for City of Woodstock Residents
WOODSTOCK, IL – The city of Woodstock and McHenry County Department of Health, In partnership with the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County and Elgin Recycling, invites residents to take part in a Free Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding Event.
Free Electronics Recycling & Paper Shredding
Location: McHenry County Fairgrounds, 11900 Country Club Road.
Date: Saturday, October 18
Time: 9:00 a.m. to Noon


Woodstock residents will enjoy waived fees thanks to the City’s Single-Use Bag Fee program, which covers the cost of recycling televisions, computer monitors, and up to five household electronic items. Proof of residency is required at the event entrance.
Accepted Electronics Include:
  • Televisions & Computer Monitors*
  • Computers & Small Servers
  • Printers, Fax Machines & Scanners
  • Video Game Consoles
  • DVD Players, Recorders & VCRs
  • Digital Converter Boxes, Cable & Satellite Receivers
  • Keyboards, Mice & Portable Digital Music Players
*Fees apply for participants outside Woodstock city limits: $15 per LCD monitor, $25 per unit up to 20”, $35 per unit 21” and larger.
Document Shredding:
A shred truck will be on site to securely dispose of sensitive paper documents (limit: 4 boxes per vehicle). Staples and paper clips may remain, but binder clips and 3-ring binders must be removed. Participants must take all containers back with them.

*Fees apply for participants outside Woodstock city limits: $1 per pound of alkaline batteries; $0.50–$1 per fluorescent tubes & bulbs.
This one-day recycling event offers residents a safe and responsible way to dispose of old electronics, sensitive documents, and household materials while helping reduce landfill waste.
