Record Store Day at The Records Department

THE RECORDS DEPARTMENT PRESENTS RECORD STORE DAY! Your favorite record store in Woodstock, Illinois is now approved and pledged to participate in Record Store Day 2024! For those who are new, RSD is a celebration of independent record stores with events scheduled throughout the year as well as special limited titles exclusive to independent brick-and-mortar stores released on Record Store Day. It?s not going to be a normal day but we are going to do our best to get the most interesting rsd titles in store. This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store?the staff, the customers, and the artists?to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role they play in their communities. Special vinyl releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day. In 2008 a small list of titles was released on Record Store Day and that list has grown to include artists and labels both large and small, in every genre and price point. For several years, 60% or more of the Record Store Day Official Release List came from independent labels and distributors. The list continues to include a wide range of artists, covering the diverse taste of record stores and their customers. Doors open for sales at 7AM CST. Line forms from our doors out the FRONT of the building (on Johnson St.) Folks that need ADA-accessible entry should come in through the back door (on Throop) and check-in with our door minder to hold their place in line. Live musical performances start at 8pm and include our friends from Wisconsin, JF Zastrow & Fangerlis! $10 at the door for musical performance only.
